The Philippines' leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc. (PLDT)'s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is eyeing a stronger rollout of its 4G/LTE and 5G networks for the rest of 2024 to support the robust demand for mobile data in the country.

PLDT and Smart Communications Inc. have given Filipino Olympians Carlos Yulo, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas, and their respective coaches and staff, a total of ₱21 million as reward for earning the Philippines its biggest number of medals at the recently concluded Olympic Games Paris 2024.

PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc warn customers against vishing, or phishing over voice calls. Smart had earlier reported a marked decline in SMShing, or phishing over SMS, after it activated its new and more advanced network firewall.

PLDT and Smart urge industry stakeholders to intensify collaboration to address challenges that persist as the government continues to find ways to streamline permitting processes and fast-track the rollout of telco facilities.

Strengthening the MSME digitalization program of the DTI, DTI Davao City, PLDT Enterprise, and Smart Communications Inc. conducted a series of online entrepreneurship trainings joined by more than 130 business owners from the Davao Region.
