PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications reminds mobile users that new Smart and TNT SIMs are activated only upon registration by its owner. The public is advised to purchase new SIMs at authorized distribution channels or retailers, and to avoid buying or accepting offers of new SIMs that are said to be pre-registered and activated.
 
Under the SIM Registration Act, providing false information to register SIMs, selling stolen registered SIMs, selling or transferring SIMs without complying with the required SIM registration, and aiding in committing these offenses are acts punishable by law.
 
To register prepaid SIMs, simply log on to simreg.smart.com.ph and follow the 3 easy steps provided. Postpaid users, meanwhile, are considered registered using existing account details provided consistent with the SIM Registration Act.
 
SIM Registration deadline is extended until July 25, 2023.
