PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have boosted the in-person implementation of the Bohol ICT Congress 2023 led by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators-Central Visayas Chapter (PSITE-7) through connectivity and knowledge sharing with over 300 IT and Engineering students.

In line with this year’s theme “Disruptive Innovation Tools and Technologies”, Engr. Leopoldo Mojal VI, Senior Supervisor of Smart Network Field Services shared his years-long expertise as a telecommunication engineer and discussed recent progress in wireless information and communications technology. In his presentation, he also recounted Smart’s innovation journey and the valuable lessons the company learned in order to provide customers with meaningful connections and experiences that allow them to live a fuller life.

The organization is always thankful to sponsors like PLDT and Smart who help us entice participants to our activities and show that we are one in this partnership towards providing quality IT education,” said Dr. Norma Apao, one of the leads from PSITE Central Visayas Bohol.

PLDT and Smart have also put up a SIM Registration assistance desk at the University of Bohol to register the SIMS of students above 18 years old. This is a part of the ongoing initiative of the group to protect all its subscribers against any SIM-, Internet-, or Electronic-aided crimes.

The group’s support for the Bohol ICT Student Congress proves its commitment to promoting digital inclusion, further contributing to the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly UN SDG #4 of providing quality education.
