In a world where almost everything has become digital, a secured network has become a must. For Cyber Security Incident Response Team head Katrina Atienza, it’s no easy feat. “We monitor, detect, prevent, remediate, and resolve cybersecurity incidents attacking PLDT and Smart 24/7, 365 days a year. We contain threats to make sure that PLDT and Smart’s network is a secure and safe environment,” Ms. Atienza said. This effort led to PLDT and Smart fending off more than 182 million cyber-attacks and attempts to breach their digital assets as of end-2022.
“It's not a 9-to-5 job. Our enemies, they don’t sleep. And we are fighting these hackers trying to steal our information, steal our data. So, I really feel proud that I belong here. We're not only securing PLDT and Smart, but we’re also securing communities,” she added.
As an Equal Opportunity Employer, PLDT and Smart remained consistent in implementing its non-discrimination policy that gives equal opportunity to all qualified applicants, regardless of gender, age, religion, schools, regions, or other aspects that have nothing to do with their qualification and capability to perform their jobs and roles. The only basis for evaluating candidates is job fit – their ability to perform the role, function, following the principles of Pay for Position, Pay for Performance, and Pay for Person.
“It doesn’t matter what your gender is, or how you identify yourself, as long as you have the heart, passion, and commitment,” Ms. Atienza shared. “I'm thankful to PLDT and Smart for being an inclusive environment for women. It's a safe environment for women to make their voices be heard and to encourage for people to listen to the voices of women.”
