Gearing up for growth and embracing technology in this digital age is the new mindset that now drives 43-year-old entrepreneur Myra Mercurio forward.
As the owner of Kalunhaw Farm, Mercurio has long been passionate about building her brand by offering fresh and locally produced juices and goods to the community. Like many traditional entrepreneurs, however, she once felt overwhelmed by the fast-paced world of digital tools and AI-powered platforms.

“I used to be hesitant about using these applications. I’m not an extrovert, and technology felt intimidating. But I’ve realized, through this event, that digital tools can really support us in running our business.” she shared.

Mercurio was one of the enthusiastic participants at PLDT Enterprise’s Speed Dating: Business Edition with DTI Davao City—an event connecting local entrepreneurs and showcasing relevant resources to help them thrive in today’s digital-first economy. The initiative was created to foster connections among entrepreneurs and encourage collaboration within the business community.

“I love the speed dating concept because networking is so important. Running a business can be isolating at times—not everyone in your circle understands what you’re going through, so it’s good to meet others who do.”

PLDT and Smart, through its eBiznovation program, have been partnering with DTI to equip local business with the right tools and knowledge to help them operate more efficiently.

“My small enterprise is now on a path toward better visibility and greater impact. Now, I’m excited—rather than apprehensive—about where technology can take us,” she added.

Through technology, the PLDT group continues to build smarter and more resilient communities all over the country, enabling industries to withstand economic risks. This effort also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals No. 1: No Poverty and No. 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
