“The purpose of this tour is to introduce our students to notable tech companies in the region and encourage them to intern outside of Iloilo, helping them broaden their training experience for their future careers. Smart has always been included in our stops because they have the experts who can provide insightful information about networking and communications, which we also cover in our program,” said Dr. Nikie Jo Deocampo, College of Information and Communications Technology faculty member at WVSU.

The tour was led by Smart’s network team, who gave a lecture on the advancements in telecommunications technology over the years. The students were also able to visit Smart's technical facility and learned more about how the company provides communications services to its subscribers.



PLDT and Smart’s Stakeholder Management Team in Visayas also shared valuable #BeCyberSmart tips to fortify the students’ knowledge on cybersecurity and help them to be safe against SMS scams and other fraudulent activities online.

“This tour went very smoothly for us. I appreciate the speakers answering our questions and explaining how their network and services work. The cybersecurity talk was also useful because, as BS Computer Science students, it is also our priority to create safe and secure online platforms for the people,” said Rochelle Anne Dinaque, fourth year BS Computer Science student at WVSU.
