Members of the Zone V Camera Club (ZVCC) recently brought not only their cameras, but hope to young learners in Barangay Balibago in the town of Cardona in the province of Rizal. Zone V has partnered with PLDT and Smart and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) to expand learning delivery platforms at Tuna-Balibago Elementary School located in Talim Island.

ZVCC has sponsored three units of the PLDT and Smart School-in-a-Bag, a portable digital classroom which brings quality education to remote and underserved areas in the Philippines. Each SIAB contains a laptop for the teacher, 10 tablets for students pre-loaded with educational materials and learning applications aligned with the Department of Education’s curriculum, a Smart pocket Wi-Fi, and an external storage device where a teacher’s guide and additional educational content are saved.
 
True to their mission of sharing knowledge and skills in the art of photography, ZVCC hosted a photography workshop at Tuna-Balibago Elementary School that was participated by students and teachers. It was an opportunity for the community to learn about basic photography techniques and understanding its elements to help them better capture snapshots of life or preserve meaningful moments.

The School-in-a-Bag highlights PLDT and Smart’s commitment to inclusive quality education through Information and Communications Technology, content, pedagogy, and capacity building to ensure that there is #NoLearnerLeftBehind. This initiative is also aligned with the UNSDG 4 on Quality Education.
