Mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) demonstrates its commitment to enriching local culture and inspiring community spirit by powering up the much-awaited Dinagyang Festival 2024.

"We support events like the Dinagyang Festival because we believe in their power to enrich the culture and passion of the communities we serve. Our involvement in such cultural events, like in Sinulog, is a testament to our dedication to serving our subscribers better, not just in terms of technology, but also in fostering a sense of cultural belonging,” said Melvin Consunji Nubla, FVP and Head of Go-To-Market and Subscriber Management at Smart.

Smart’s parent company PLDT, also ramped up connectivity for the festival to support the Iloilo City local government's activities such as the live streaming of Ms. Iloilo 2024 and the Dinagyang Festival 2024, ensuring that Ilonggos and festival enjoyers from around the world can tune in and celebrate the vibrant cultural festivities, wherever they may be. Smart also beefed up its mobile network, enabling festival-goers to document their experiences in real-time and share them online.

Further enhancing the festive atmosphere, Smart set up a #SmartDinagyang booth in front of the YMCA Building in Iloilo City which served as a hotspot for exciting treats and affordable load promos, letting festival-goers experience a Smart-powered festival hub.

PLDT and Smart’s stores in SM City Iloilo and SM Delgado also opened their doors for an "Open House"--an initiative that lets customers enjoy a fun Dinagyang experience via exclusive perks and promos, adding another layer of excitement to the festival.

Adding to the festivities, Smart gave full support for the Viva Music Festival, a highly anticipated event during the Dinagyang Festival, by offering full merchandising, festival kits and online giveaways to festival-enjoyers and students from participating schools such as the University of Iloilo, Western Visayas State University, and John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University. This ensured that they had all the essentials to make the most of the Dinagyang experience.

Ensuring the spirit of the Dinagyang Festival was felt by everyone, both onsite and online, PLDT and Smart's efforts are part of a wider initiative to connect Filipinos. This is in line with the Group's commitment to the Government's overall digitalization goal.
