Aside from its breathtaking tourist attractions and hospitable people, Cebu is also known for its vibrant and colorful festivals, celebrating the province’s unwavering faith, diverse culture, and creative people.

PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have been part of these celebrations for many years, connecting families and bringing the Cebuano tradition to the world. Leo Broñola is proud to play a role in the success of these festivals through his work as a network engineer.

Leo is a senior engineer under Smart’s Network Service Operations whose primary responsibility is the preventive and corrective maintenance of the network’s facilities. He was one of the personnel who worked to enhance Smart’s communication services during the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023 (Festival of Festivals) in Carcar City and the recently concluded Sinulog 2024 in Cebu City.

As a long-time devotee of Señor Santo Niño, it has been Leo’s vow to participate in the Sinulog celebration. “I have been joining the Sinulog festivities and its religious activities since my college years. Now that I am in Smart, it brought another kind of fulfillment participating in this celebration not only as a spectator but as someone who helps provide the communication needs of devotees and festivalgoers,” shared Leo.

Since he began working at Smart in 2021, Leo has always been driven by his commitment to provide quality service to Filipinos. He is grateful for the chance to be a part of Cebuanos’ lives by bringing families and friends closer together through communication and connectivity, whether on normal days or during grand festivities.

“It is our job to provide communication services during major events or festivals. But beyond that, we want to be reliable partners of our subscribers in capturing and sharing special moments of their festival experience while also promoting Cebu and the Philippines to the world,” he said.

These initiatives are among Leo’s proudest achievements as a network engineer and he commits to continue working hard to help Filipinos create meaningful connections anytime and anywhere.
