PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has extended communication support to Cobcawa Multipurpose Cooperative and Cabancalan Urban Poor & Resettlement Multipurpose Cooperative in Cebu City via Project Hotline. This is part of Smart’s continuous effort to help boost the day-to-day operations of its partner cooperatives through digital technology. 

Project Hotline is Smart’s dedicated wireless solution that provides coops with additional communication channels, enabling coop members to immediately share their inquiries and other urgent concerns. Under this project, the cooperatives received free smartphone devices with load allocation for up to six months and hotline banners

“As part of the communities team, we are always grateful to engage with various communities in Cebu, especially those cooperatives who need this kind of service. We will continue to empower more communities in Cebu through Smart’s digital solutions,” said Viennesse Elare, Community Development Officer.

Cobcawa Multipurpose Cooperative and Cabancalan Urban Poor & Resettlement Multipurpose are also part of the Aboitiz Smart Coops, which previously received “Digiskarte Packages” inclusive of Smart SIM cards, LTE handsets, retailer kit with load wallets, and other freebies to start their loading business for additional income.

“We are very thankful to Smart for the hotline kit and Digiskarte package they provided to us. We will make sure to properly utilize this support for the benefit of all our farmer-members,” said Elesio Cantano, Chairman, Cobcawa Multipurpose Cooperative.

These efforts are also in line with PLDT and Smart’s commitment to help the country attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
