PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has extended connectivity support to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Cebu City through the donation of Prepaid Home WiFi devices during the division’s Brigada Eskwela 2022 Kick-off held at Lahug Elementary School.

“Smart has been a constant partner of DepEd Cebu City Division. We thank them for boosting our recent Brigada Eskwela kick-off and providing more support to our teachers and learners. We do hope that this partnership will foster,” said Reum P. Sespeñe, DepEd Cebu City Partnership Focal Person.

These connectivity devices will be distributed to select mountain schools in Cebu City whose internet lines were affected by Super Typhoon Odette.

“We at Smart are glad to partner with DepEd Cebu City in ensuring that no learner gets left behind in the new normal. We hope that through this support, we can assist educators in providing basic quality education to learners in far-flung communities,” said Harrieth Baratbate, Smart Community Development Supervisor.

This initiative underscores PLDT and Smart’s #NoLearnerLeftBehind advocacy which seeks to promote inclusive education through innovative and sustainable education programs. This also supports PLDT Group’s commitment to help the country attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Quality Education.
