Ormoc City gets boost from Smart via connectivity tools, signages

Smart Communications, Inc. has extended connectivity support to over 400 scholars of Ormoc City in Leyte through the provision of Smart Bro Pocket WiFi devices to ensure that no learner gets left behind amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from that, Smart has also boosted its partnership with the local government through the launching of #SmartInfocast for their offices and turned over road traffic signages to keep peace and order in the community.

“We have always been taking care of our scholars here in Ormoc. We thank Smart for this donation as this will greatly assist them in their online learning,” says Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez. 

“We hope that all of our student beneficiaries will efficiently use these connectivity devices for their studies. We will assure to strengthen our partnership with Ormoc City to provide more support to its people,” says Hoyle Raul Disuanco, FVP of Smart Regional Customer Development-VisMin.

The ceremonial turnover was joined by the following: Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez, Leyte Fourth District Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez, City Councilor Peter Rodriguez, City Councilor Dr. Gregario Yrastorza, TEAM Office Head Barnsby Cagang, Smart Regional Customer Development FVP Hoyle Raul Disuanco, Smart Regional Customer Development Center Head/AVP Alexis Winters, Smart Trade Marketing Center Head/AVP Grace Ruperto, Smart Regional Customer Development Senior Manager Roy Nebrija, Smart Customer Development Manager Janus Asis, among others. 

These initiatives underscore PLDT and Smart's commitment to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG No. 3 on Good health and Well-being, and SDG No. 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
