Smart and TNT subscribers in provinces affected by Typhoon #RollyPH were able to reconnect with their loved ones through free communication services provided by Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).

Smart mobile subscribers benefit from communication aid

Since November 3, Smart and TNT subscribers were able to reconnect with loved ones through free SMS and data services extended to affected communities in Albay, Batangas, Camarines Norte and Sur, Catanduanes, Cavite, Laguna, Marinduque, Mindoro Occidental, Northern and Western Samar, Rizal, Quezon and Sorsogon. Mobile subscribers in these affected areas automatically received a notification on the free bundle offer without having to register for the service.

This public service complements the ongoing Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, Libreng Wifi, and Libreng Load efforts extended by PLDT and Smart directly to affected communities. The two companies have also provided communication support such as satellite phones and airtime load for the use of typhoon response teams.

As of November 11, PLDT and Smart have successfully reconnected Typhoon Rolly-hit areas, and are stepping up efforts to restore the remaining hard-to-reach areas of Catanduanes.

PLDT and Smart teams continue to work round-the-clock to provide affected communities with vital communication links, as part of its #SafeandSmart advocacy.
