What is ROAM SURF?

Smart ROAM SURF a Php 550 per day data roaming service open to both Smart Postpaid and Prepaid subscribers, covering over 120 countries within the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania. Data allocation may vary depending on country of destination.

Who can avail this service?

ROAM SURF is available to all Smart Postpaid and Prepaid subscribers.

How can I avail of ROAM SURF?

You may avail ROAM SURF through the Data Roaming Manager.

Before leaving the country:

For Prepaid Subscriber:

Have enough credits to avail roaming packages.
Have a minimum balance of P100.
Send "ROAM ON" to 333 an hour before your flight.

For Postpaid Subscriber:

Update your account & settle unpaid balance.
Call Smart Hotline *888 to check Data Roaming Status (roaming deposit may be required depending on account status.

What is the validity period of ROAM SURF?

ROAM SURF is valid for 24 hours. If you’re in the US and you subscribed at 1:00PM, ROAM SURF will expire the following day at 12:59 PM. You can monitor your ROAM SURF subscription at the ACTIVE tab of the Data Roaming Manager.

How can I monitor my ROAM SURF subscription?

That’s easy! Simply visit the Data Roaming Manager at roam.smart.com.ph and click the ACTIVE tab. This will show your active ROAM SURF subscription and will present useful information such as data usage and expiration date.

No, make sure your preferred mobile network is set to AUTOMATIC.

For Android:
Go to Settings > Connectivity > More > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Press Select Automatically

For iOS:
Go to Settings > Carrier > Turn On Automatic

What CAN I do with my ROAM SURF subscription?

This service allows you to:

• Access your email
• Access your favorite social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
• Access your messaging applications that allow you to chat and call – the likes of WhatsApp, Viber, and Facebook Messenger
• Access Google maps for directions on the go
• Surf the internet for any other lifestyle needs to help you enjoy a worry-free travel experience. For example, basic phrases in the native language of your destination

What CAN I NOT do with my ROAM SURF subscription?

This service excludes bandwidth-heavy Internet activities such as:

• Streaming videos and music (i.e. Vimeo, YouTube, Deezer, Spinnr, and the like)
• Peer-to-peer file sharing (i.e. torrent, Dropbox, Google Drive and the like)

Why are these activities excluded?

These exclusions are set in place to ensure fast mobile internet access for all subscribers.

I’m a Postpaid subscriber, will ROAM SURF be charged within, or on top of my consumables?

This will be charged within your consumables, as long as the balance of your consumables allow. Anything beyond will be charged on top.

I am unable to connect to the internet despite subscribing to ROAM SURF, why is this? What should I do?

• If you’re a Postpaid subscriber and got your line in 2014, the Postpaid accounts’ data roaming is turned OFF. To activate:
1. For plans above MSF1200: simply call the toll-free roaming hotline to activate
2. For plans MSF999 and below:
 Pay roaming deposit of P2500 and submit IR-related documents
 Option to keep the roaming deposit in account for future roaming activities, or as credit to current account to be reflected as bills payment but sub has to pay P2500 again when he roams in the future
