Tapsihan Owner wins P1M in Smart Ka-Partner Rewards

[6 May 2015] Mary Jane Silvino, a mother of two, was an OFW who decided to come home for good to open a small canteen using her savings. thankfully, she gets additional income by offering Smart load. As a Smart Load retailer, Silvino makes the most of the additional opportunities Smart provides its load retailers via the Ka-Partner Rewards Program.

She used to be an OFW, leaving her family behind to work in the entertainment industry of Japan for several years.  When it became difficult to work abroad because of stricter requirements, Mary Jane Silvino, a mother of two, decided to come home for good and open a small canteen using her savings. “Nagbukas ako ng eatery kasi mahilig ako sa pagkain. Ang mga tinitinda ko ay pang-masa.  Nagtayo ako ng ganitong food business kasi masaya na, kumikita ka pa,” she says. 

Her first location was a good one. Her tapsihan was located near the town plaza of their municipality and she had a lot of regular customers. After 10 years, though, they had to pack up and leave because the owner of the space decided to lease it out for a higher price. Instead of giving up, Silvino decided to relocate her business. 

But she admits that their new place, which opened only about a month ago, does not earn as much as the previous one.  It is only reaching break-even figures.  But she cannot close shop, because there are four families relying on the business income.

Thankfully, she gets additional income by offering Smart load. “Ang benta ko sa load umaabot ng isang libo sa isang araw. Hindi ko siya tinatawag na sideline. Kapag umabot ako ng one hundred sa isang araw, para sa akin, pera din iyan na hindi napupulot sa kalye,” she says.

As a Smart Load retailer, Silvino makes the most of the additional opportunities Smart provides its load retailers via the Ka-Partner Rewards Program. 

Launched three years ago, the program qualifies all Smart Load retailers to enjoy loyalty rewards and enter electronic raffle draws for a chance to win big prizes.  This is done through a point conversion system where a P100 load sale is equivalent to one (1) point.  The points can be accumulated and used to redeem instant prizes and services such as free SMS and airtime or load wallet value.

The Smart Load retailers also have the option to accumulate their points and exchange these for electronic raffle entries.  At stake at the annual grand raffle are three grand prizes of P1M each.  The quarterly raffle draws giveaway prizes such as P100,000 and P10,000 in cash, Smart phone units and other items.

On a particularly lean day at her tapsihan, Silvino decided to redeem her points towards entering the e-raffle.

Inubos ko yung points sa promo,” she recalls. That day proved to be a particularly lucky one for her, as sometime later, her dealer would call her to announce that she had won something. “Akala ko TV. Kailangan namin ng bagong TV kasi sobrang luma na yung ginagamit namin,” she grins.

At the recent Smart Load retailers convention held in Cavite, it was announced that Silvino had won one million pesos in the Ka-Partner Rewards grand e-raffle. “Lubos and kasiyahan ko at pagpapasalamat sa Smart,” she exclaims. 

Silvino shares that she is thinking of either buying her own space for the business or putting up their own house and not rent anymore.  She is channeling the funds into growing her business, maybe open up another branch.

Magbibigay rin ako sa simbahan.  Ang asawa ko, nagpapabili ng sofabed,” she jokes.  She is encouraging other retailers to join the promos, so they too can enjoy the perks of being a Smart Ka-Partner.        

According to Gia Palafox, Smart vice president and cluster head for sales and distribution for NCR and South Luzon, there were over 300,000 Smart Load retailers who redeemed their e-tickets for a shot at the three grand prizes of P1M each.  

“The Ka-Partner Rewards Program comes in many forms.  Our other retailers choose to avail of the other rewards such as the 300 free sms per month based on sales, or additional credits on their load wallet and the unlicalls,” explains Palafox.

“We take care of our retailers and reward them because they are the most important segment of our business when it comes to prepaid. We will not be able to promote and sell our products without them,” she adds.

The retailer assistance from Smart extends from a robust distribution system and structure, with monthly assemblies to introduce new products that can help them to earn more from their loading business, to dedicated point persons that can answer to their needs at any given time of the day.  Plus, of course there’s the rewards program. 

“With an expanded 2015 Ka-Partner rewards program, we are telling our load retailers na aasenso ka sa bagong loads at promos at aasenso ka sa dagdag na negosyo,” says Palafox.
