[5 May 2015] Now on its third year, the Ka-Partner Rewards Program is one way by which Smart recognizes the contribution of Smart Load sellers all over the country and the key role they play as business partners of Smart.
Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) capped its 2014 Ka-Partner Rewards Program by holding a series of retailer conventions in 30 localities across the country and giving away a total of P30M in cash prizes to lucky Smart Load retailers nationwide.
The whole day conventions featured entertainment, fun activities and games, along with presentations of the latest products to help boost the load business of the retailers. Serving as the highlight in each event was the awarding of Smart Load retailers who won in the fourth quarter and grand draws of the 2014 Ka-Partner Rewards electronic raffle.
Named winners in the grand raffle and each taking home P1M in cash were Larry Vicente Cretencio, a tricycle driver in Antique; Jecebel Pioquinto Vela, a sari-sari store owner from Metro Manila, and Mary Jane Silvino who runs a tapsihan in Cavite. The three instant millionaires were awarded separately during the conventions held at their respective districts.

“This is our way of saying thank you to our front-liners, our last layer of distribution before our products reach our subscribers,” explains Rolex Campos, Smart Senior Manager for Product Marketing and Management.
“Having a rewards program has enriched our engagement, such that our retailers are excited about our promos. These big conventions are actually already part of the culminating activity. Every month, we hold retailer assemblies to inform them of new loads, new products and services,” says Gia Palafox, Smart vice president and cluster head for sales and distribution for NCR and South Luzon.
“Our Ka-Partner Rewards Program allows retailers to earn points towards free SMS, credit to their load wallet and entries to the e-raffle where they stand a chance to win P1M,” she adds.
At the Cavite leg of Smart’s Ka-Partner Rewards retailer convention, lucky Smart Load retailer Mary Jane Silvino receives the award of P1,000,000 from Gia Palafox and Perry Bayani of Smart, and Smart endorser and TV celebrity Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
Every P100 Smart Load sold per day is turned into one (1) point, which the load retailers can then accumulate and use to avail of instant prizes and services such as free SMS and airtime or load wallet value. Hundreds of thousands of retailers have benefited from the points redemption under the program which augmented their working capital for load.
The Smart Load retailers also have the option to accumulate their points and exchange these for electronic raffle entries. They get to join the quarterly raffle draws where P100,000 and P10,000 cash prizes and Smart phone units are given away. They also qualify for the annual grand raffle for a chance to be one of three lucky retailers to win P1M each.
Vela previously won P1,000 in the e-raffle and recalls how lucky she already felt then. Winning P1M this time around brought her unimaginable joy. “Iingatan ko ito, hindi lahat gagastusin. Siguro para lang sa maintenance ng gamot ni nanay at pambayad ng mga utang.“
A survivor of typhoons Ondoy and Habagat, a fire that burned down their house and a failed marriage, Vela never lost hope. She keeps afloat with a small sari-sari store, selling items she describes as “pang masa”. She is able to augment her income by selling Smart load which she says is in-demand and considers the Ka-Partner Rewards Program as the best benefit retailers like her could ever receive. “Ang Smart ang naging tulay sa aking kaunlaran na kaloob ni Lord,” she says.
Silvino would have been happy to have won a television set to replace the old one at home; but instead went home P1M richer. “Ang laking tulong nito. Magagamit ko ito para makakuha ng sariling pwesto o bahay kasi nangungupahan lang kami. Magbibigay din ako sa simbahan.”
Prior to putting up a tapsihan, Silvino worked as a foreign talent in Japan until work opportunities waned. Aside from serving food, she also sells Smart load at her small eatery.
“Umaabot ang benta ko ng isang libo kada araw. Kaya hindi ko ito itinuturing na sideline. Pera yan na hindi mo mapupulot sa kalye,” says the mother of two.
Silvino said she strived hard to increase her load sales in order to boost her chances of winning in the e-raffle. “Ginamit ko lahat ng points ko para isali sa raffle.”

Cretencio hoped he would win. “Grocery, motor, laptop... kahit ano lang basta manalo.” But he was not expecting to win the big one. “Makakatulong ito para makaahon sa kahirapan.” He and his wife plan to use the P1M to have their house fixed and to finance the education of their two kids “para di nila maranasan and narasan namin.”
A Smart Load retailer since 2010, Cretencio is grateful for having another source of income. ‘Mahirap rin sa tricycle kasi marami na rin kami. Tapos pagmagkasakit ka, isang buwan ka hindi bibiyahe.”
Aside from Cretencio, Vela and Silvino, 53 other retailers won in the grand draw, and close to 1500 in the quarterly draw.
“The Smart Ka-Partner Rewards Program is our way of thanking our loyal load retailers for continuously doing business with us.
