The disaster preparedness program has received citations from local and international public relations groups.
Smart Communications has won awards both here and abroad for its efforts to advocate a culture of preparedness among the youth.
Last week, the company’s TNT Tropang Ready Disaster Preparedness Caravan received a Silver trophy at the Anvil Awards presented by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP). The award-giving body honors outstanding public relations programs and is considered the Oscars of the communications industry.
Tropang Ready was also named winner in the Community Engagement category at the prestigious Golden World Awards. Organized by the International Public Relations Association (Ipra), the GWA recognizes public relations practices that meet international standards of excellence.
The TNT Tropang Ready program tours colleges and universities nationwide to conduct disaster preparedness trainings for students, who in turn will cascade their learnings to their schools’ extension communities. Since 2016, the program has trained around 18,000 participants in more than 15 communities, state colleges and universities all over the Philippines. The initiative is part of Smart’s commitment to a #SafePH.
