Pilgrims of Our Lady of Manaoag may also send their prayers through Infocast.
The communication and disaster preparedness efforts of the local government unit of Manaoag, Pangasinan, have received a boost from Smart Communications, the wireless subsidiary of telecommunications giant PLDT.
Through a recently sealed partnership with the LGU and Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manaoag, the Municipality of Manaoag is now one of the recipients of Smart Infocast, a communication tool that allows Smart, Sun, and TNT subscribers to receive news broadcasts, weather bulletins, and other critical information via text message.
Smart Infocast will enable the local government unit and Letran to send SMS updates to residents, parents, and students, helping enhance the communication and disaster preparedness programs of the LGU and the school. The system also allows registered subscribers to send reports or feedback to the system administrator.
Pilgrims of the Our Lady of Manaoag may also send their prayers through Infocast. To send their petitions, users may text OURLADY <message> and send to 744427556. Letran Manaoag, one of the authorized users of the platform, is attached to the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag.
Smart Infocast has boosted the communication efforts of the institutions where it has been implemented, among them local government units, government agencies, and other organizations.
Under its #SafePH advocacy, Smart promotes the use of technology to help mitigate disaster risk in communities. The company has developed other preparedness programs and solutions, such as the Emergency Cell Broadcast System (ECBS); the Batingaw emergency app; and the TNT Tropang Ready youth readiness caravans, among other projects.
