PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have extended support to the municipality of Ronda in Southern Cebu via Project Hotline to assist the town’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in providing quick response to emergencies and disasters.
The municipality received a Project Hotline kit which includes a free smartphone and SIM card with load allocation up to six months. To help the local government in informing the public about their new hotline, Smart also installed hotline banners in strategic areas across the town.
“This hotline kit will surely help us in responding to emergencies and accommodating queries on basic services of the local government. We extend our gratitude to Smart for this support, and we hope this initiative will reach more communities,” says Gerard Anthony Aguaviva, Ronda MDRRM Officer.
“We are happy to extend help to the people of Ronda through Project Hotline. We always believe that communication is important in keeping the community safe. We hope this support will also help the local government unit to stay connected with their constituents,” says Miah Dato-on, Smart Customer Development Manager for South Cebu.
The turnover activity was joined by Ronda Municipal Mayor Mariano Terrence Romeo; Miah Dato-on, Smart Customer Development Manager; and Norman Cirujales, Operations Manager of PD Versalink.
PLDT and Smart’s Project Hotline underscores their #SafeandSmart advocacy and supports the companies’ commitment to help the country attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
