MORE HELP FOR FRONTLINERS: PLDT Inc. and its wireless subsidiary Smart, with PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) have joined hands to support the local government of Cebu City in its fight against the surge of COVID-19.
On Thursday, smartphone devices with load allocation were donated to the LGU’s Vaccination Operations Center, and frontline groups including the City’s COVID Action Team, and members from the Emergency and Vaccination Operations Centers were also provided with Personal Protective Equipment sets such as hospital-grade gowns and surgical masks, boxes of vitamins, and more than Php 30,000 worth of load cards—to aid them in their day-to-day battle to end the pandemic.
“As we all know, this COVID crisis is far from over. In fact, we are experiencing another surge in cases. We at PLDT and Smart are helping all the agencies tasked to rollout the vaccinations as much as we can. On behalf of PLDT, Smart, and PLDT-Smart Foundation, I would like to convey our heartfelt gratitude especially to the city of Cebu for allowing us to take part in their efforts to rollout vaccinations in the city,” said Jimmy Chua, VP and Head of PLDT Enterprise Customer Relationship Management.
Apart from the Cebu City LGU, donations from PLDT, Smart, and PSF were also extended to LGUs Iloilo City and Cagayan De Oro.
“We in PSF are one with our people especially in Cebu, Iloilo and CDO where the COVID19 cases have surged. Following the mandate of our PLDT Chairman MVP, and President Al Panlilio, we are ready to lend a hand in any way possible, to help our frontliners and the people face this health crisis. Together, we will overcome these challenges,” said Ma. Esther Santos, President of PLDT-Smart Foundation.
Present during the turnover were Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama; Councilors Joel Garganera and Dave Tumulak; Jimmy Chua, VP and Head of PLDT Enterprise Customer Relationship Management; Marylou Gocotano, Smart Group Corporate Communications-Stakeholder Management VisMin; and Ramjun Magadan, Smart Customer Development Manager.
