Smart, PayMaya power seamless digital experience with GigaPay on GigaLife App

Leading mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is teaming up with digital financial service firm PayMaya to deliver an improved and seamless loading experience on the GigaLife App with its newest feature GigaPay, enabling customers to stay connected and continue pursuing their passions, and marking another milestone in the companies' initiatives toward financial inclusion.
 
Through GigaPay with PayMaya, GigaLife App users can conveniently top-up, buy data and access other exclusive data promos on-the-go by enabling them to link their PayMaya wallet as their payment source for all in-app transactions.

Part of this is the understanding that payment transactions are a critical aspect of digital transformation which is why we have always been at the forefront of driving financial inclusion in the country," said PLDT and Smart President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio. "Back in Y2K, some twenty-one years ago, we revolutionized e-commerce by introducing Smart Money, the world’s first reloadable electronic payment card linked to a mobile phone," he added.
 
Highlighting how e-commerce and technology have evolved since then, and changing the way Filipinos live, shop and do business, Panlilio said that GigaPay is yet another step ahead in financial technology. "GigaPay is an advancement into fully-realizing our vision for the "Giga Life", one that is enriched by technology made simple and easy, delivering a seamless digital experience," Panlilio said.

Jane J. Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart, underscored how GigaPay with PayMaya elevates the GigaLife App experience. "When we launched the GigaLife App last September, our ultimate goal was to turn it into a one-stop app that brings together the most relevant digital needs of our customers as they pursue their passions. This is why we designed it in such a way that is so simple and easy to use," said Basas, adding that this development paves the way for future services and solutions on the GigaLife App.
 
'Embedded payments for the GigaLife' 
 
"As the country’s foremost digital financial services platform serving as the nexus for consumers, businesses, and all segments of society, we are making it easier for people to create, access, and use their financial accounts. GigaPay with PayMaya exemplifies how digital payments can be embedded in everyday transactions and we are excited to work with Smart to further build on this innovation," said PayMaya President Shailesh Baidwan. 

"To make access to financial services easier, we have established a network of over 250,000 digital touchpoints where people can make payments, add money, cash out, or send funds. This number is 7 times the number of all ATMs and bank branches combined. These same touchpoints and exciting use cases are being made available directly to Smart customers through the GigaLife app via its GigaPay with PayMaya," Baidwan said. 
 
Get started on the GigaLife App
 
To start using GigaPay with PayMaya, subscribers of Smart Prepaid, Smart Postpaid, Smart Bro, Prepaid Home WiFi, and TNT must first download the GigaLife app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Those already using GigaLife must update their version of the app, to enable the GigaPay functionality.
 
Upon logging in to the GigaLife App, customers can tap the GigaPay icon to link their existing PayMaya account as their payment source. New users may also create a new PayMaya account and link it.
 
Once GigaPay has been activated, buying load and subscribing to promos on the GigaLife App can be as easy as clicking the preferred promo, and swiping across the screen to confirm the purchase.
 
For its initial rollout, GigaPay users can also reload at all available PayMaya cash-in touchpoints nationwide, conveniently keep track of all their transaction history, and get a rewarding experience by earning more GigaPoints which can be used to redeem data offers and exclusive lifestyle perks on the app.
 
PayMaya is regulated by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and it has robust and AI-backed security capabilities consistent with global standards to ensure safe and secure transactions for customers.
 
The GigaLife App is powered by Smart, the country’s fastest mobile data network as reported by third-party mobile internet analytics firms Ookla and Opensignal.
