[October 27, 2020] As of 2pm Philippine Standard time today, the mobile services of PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications (Smart) remain largely operational in the areas affected by #QuintaPH. However, subscribers in some municipalities in Catanduanes and Marinduque may experience connectivity issues due to commercial power failure and transmission related issues.
PLDT and Smart are currently monitoring the situation and undertaking measures to restore affected services immediately.
To provide communication as aid in typhoon-hit areas, Smart has set-up free call stations in the municipal grounds of Lobo, Batangas and in Poblacion, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro. These stations will be operational starting October 28, 2020. Smart also provided communications support to Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) to assist in early response teams deployed to areas affected by #QuintaPH.
Customers can also charge their phones in these stations.
All these efforts are part of PLDT-Smart’s #SafeandSmart advocacy, which promotes preparedness and immediate response through network resilience, continuous availability of communication services, mobile solutions and activities, and relief assistance to help communities mitigate disaster risks.
