Smart and Ericsson staged the "5G Technofest" at the Smart main office as part of Smart's preparations for 5G. The 5G Technofest showcased various 5G use cases, such as robotics and smart cities, to drum up awareness among PLDT and Smart employees and transform them into a 5G-ready work force.

On exhibit were Ericsson’s Robotic Arm, Balancing Robot, Smart City Model, Connected Mangroves and Connected Fleet technologies. The exhibit was open to PLDT and Smart employees, as well as selected faculty members from partner schools of the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP), a long-running collaboration between Smart and the academe, which aims to raise the standards of engineering and IT education in the country.

SWEEP partner school representatives from Batangas State University, Mapua University and University of Makati also joined an exclusive tour of Smart's 5G Technolab to prepare their own engineering students for the coming of 5G.
