In 2013, Smart, in partnership with the Ideaspace Foundation, took the next big step in the SWEEP Awards Program by transforming 4 student teams that won in the competition into Startup companies.
Through the SWEEP Startup Program, school teams are given the opportunity to take their ideas to the next level – as commercially viable products and services – by providing investments in their companies. This is closing the loop that connects education, innovation and entrepreneurship.
One of the most successful SWEEP Startups – Timefree Innovations – is now bringing their virtual queuing solution to Southeast Asia after only a year in operation.
23-year old 10th SWEEP Awards Champion from Bataan Peninsula State University has gone on to found the Philippines’ first Makerspace in Balanga City, Bataan after the competition.
The SWEEP Startup Program is Smart’s contribution to the country’s thrust of inclusive growth and innovations. It has been recognized by both the Philippine Quill and Anvil Awards.
