Communiteach

CommuniTeach is an education program geared towards nation-building. Following the African Proverb “it takes a village to raise a child,” the objective is to improve learning among the lowest-performing public elementary school students through mentoring, feeding and collaboration with the community.

Communiteach is based on the premise that instilling in a child the love for learning is not the sole responsibility of the school or the teacher but also that of the entire community, including the Department of Education, local government unit, business sector, and parents, among others. It was implemented with the help of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and Silid Aralan, Inc.

The program ran from 2010-2013, in partnership with 24 public elementary schools nationwide, working with close to 1,000 volunteer-students and impacting 940 families.

CommuniTeach won two excellence Awards from both Philippine Quill and Anvil Awards.
