Abot Alam is a collective effort of national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, the private sector and community-based groups, under the leadership of the Department of Education and the National Youth Commission that aims to map out all the out-of-school-youth (OSY) in the country and match them with appropriate government or civil society programs that can give them opportunities for education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Smart is the only private sector partner that is part of the Abot Alam Consortium and to encourage more OSYs to sign up for the program, Smart and Talk N’ Text developed a call-to-action music video with the theme ‘Walang Iwanan,’ performed by Quest during the Abot Alam National launch in Bohol. To support the Alternative Learning System (ALS) mobile teachers, Smart developed the BALS App that contains all the ALS content and modules in one mobile app. The BALS App is available for download at Google Play or you can click here.
In partnership with the Department of Education, Smart also developed an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) where ALS learners can listen to modules anytime, anywhere and using any mobile phone.
