Satellite terminal has no power

Check the following:
  1. The AC power outlet must have electrical supply of 220 or 110 Volts.
  2. The AC/DC power adapter must be properly plugged to the AC power outlet.
  3. The AC/DC power adapter must be properly connected to the main box unit.
  4. The power indication light of the AC/DC adapter must be ON.  Otherwise, the AC/CD adapter may be defective.
  5. The main box unit must be switched ON
  6. The power indicator light of the main box unit must be ON.  Otherwise, the main box unit may be defective.  (Applies to S-100 terminals only.)  If the problem persists, the main box unit or power adapter may be defective.  Consult your dealer for terminal servicing.

"Please Wait" message appears on the LCD display 


Follow these steps to test the main box unit:

  1. Switch the main box unit ON and OFF and reinsert the SIM card for several times.
  2. Observe the LCD display.  If the problem persists, the main box unit may be defective.

"Check Card" message appears on the LCD displayed


Check the following:

  1. The SIM card must be properly inserted into the card slot of the main box unit.
  2. Switch the main box unit ON and OFF for several times and observe the LCD display.
  3. Try to use other SMART Link SIM cards if you spare ones or the means to borrow from other SMART Link users.  If the problem persists, the main box unit may be defective.  Consult your dealer for terminal servicing.

"Searching" message appears on LCD display


Check the following:
  1. Make sure the antenna cable is properly connected to the main box unit.  The antenna connector must be tightened by hand only.
  2. Make sure the antenna cable is free from kinks and damage.  Otherwise, it must be replaced with a new one.
  3. Make sure the antenna cable is properly terminated to the antenna.  The terminal connection must be sealed with a rubber tape.
  4. Make sure the antenna is facing the sky slightly tilted towards South (for users within the Philippines), for users abroad and seafarers, consult your ACeS coverage map for the proper antenna orientation.  The antenna should be outside and free from any obstruction.  It must have a mininum distance of 1.5 meters (both horizontally and vertically) from any adjacent metallic surface.
  5. Follow the manual registration procedure on your SMART Link terminal:
    • Lift the telephone handset.
    • Dial  " #51* "
    • Once  " SB: " (for FR-190 terminals) or " Spot Beam Number? " (for FR-190G terminals) appears on the LCD display or a beep is heard (for S100), dial the spot beam number assigned to your current location followed by the "#" sign  (Ex:  " 69# "  for Manila).
  6. If the manual registration is successful, a full moon will appear on the LCD display with " ACeS " and signal indicator bar.
  7. Otherwise, repeat the manual registration procedure using the spot beam numbers adjacent to your current location.

No Dial Tone  -  The display is Full Moon with bars and ACeS


Follow these steps to test your SMART Link terminal and telephone set:
  1. Lift the receiver handset and try to blow on the mouthpiece while listening on the earpiece.  If a sound cannot be heard from the earpiece, the main box unit may be defective.
  2. Dial  "#"  and check on the receiver handset if there is a dialtone.  If there is no dial tone, the main box unit may be defective.
  3. Dial a number to make a test call.  If you are not able to connect (i.e., no ringing or busy tone), the main box unit may be defective.
  4. Place the receiver handset back on its cradle and lift again to check for a dial tone.  If the problem persists, the main box unit may be defective.  Consult your dealer for terminal servicing.

One-way Communication
(Called party cannot hear the calling party or vise versa)

Check on the following:
  1. Try to make test calls to other numbers to see if the same problem occurs.
  2. Replace the telephone set and repeat step 1.  If the problem persists, the main box unit may be defective.  Consult your dealer for terminal servicing.

"Call Failure" message appears on LCD display
after dialling a number



Perform the following steps:
  1. Check if the LCD display shows a full moon and bars during a call.  If not, perform the following steps to check the main box unit and antena:
    • Make sure the antenna, antenna cable and the main box unit are properly connected.  Tighten any loose connection.
    • Make sure the antenna is facing the sky slightly tilted towards South (for users within the Philippines), for users abroad and seafarers, consult your ACeS coverage map for the proper antenna orientation.  The antenna should be outside and free from any obstruction.  It must have a mininum distance of 1.5 meters (both horizontally and vertically) from any adjacent metallic surface.
    • Perform the manual registration steps for at least three (3) times using different spot beam numbers.
  2. Make another test call after a few minutes to see if you can connect.  Otherwise, the main box unit may be defective.

The LCD Does Not Display Anything

  • Check if the Power Adapter is properly connected to the power oiutlet.
  • Check if the Main Box is properly connected to the Power Adapter, with the right polarity.
  • Check if the "ON/OFF" button is in the "ON" position.
