What is Netphone?
The Netphone is the latest breakthrough product from SMART where we let you have an unparalleled experience in using the Internet. The Netphone, powered by Android 2.2 Froyo OS, lets you do awesome things. One key feature of the Netphone is that it stores your data (e.g. Contacts, Photos, Messages, etc.) over the Internet which means even if you lose your phone, all your files are safe and you can easily retrieve them with just the flick of your finger.

What makes Netphone different from other Android devices?
The Netphone is powered by SmartNet, Smart’s unique suite of applications which allows you to Chat with your Yahoo and Facebook friends, Update your status in Facebook and Twitter, while enjoying the usual Android features.

SETTING UP YOUR NETPHONE

Turning On your Netphone

Before turning ON the Netphone, please make sure that the Smart SIM is inside the Netphone and the battery is charged.
Hold the Power Key to Switch ON your Netphone.
To power OFF, hold the Power Key (while the Netphone is turned ON) to get the Phone Options. Select Power OFF and then tap Ok.

Registering your Netphone

Why do I have to register my Netphone?
When you turn on your Netphone, its first instinct is to get to know you. In order to experience full access to all Netphone services, you must register and log-in to the Netphone network. This will enable you to enjoy features such as the global directory to search and add for other contacts, free Netphone to Netphone messaging, and full connectivity to SmartNet, Facebook, Twitter and more.

How long does Registration take?
Registration won’t take a minute and only needs to be done once. After this, you will have full access to all Netphone services.

Can I skip registration?
Registration cannot be skipped because this will inhibit the full Netphone experience.

What do I need to register my Netphone?
Make sure that you have a strong 3G signal.

Can I use Wi-Fi connection to register?
For new Netphone users, you are required to register over 3G connection.

Will I be charged when I register my Netphone?
Registration is absolutely free of charge.

How can I register my Netphone?

  • Turn on your Netphone. Wait for the loading to finish.
  • On the registration page, enter your First Name, Middle Name, Last Name.
  • Enter a password, 8-15 alphanumeric characters. Reenter password. Press Next.
  • Take a profile picture using Netphone camera or Skip this step. You can add a profile picture later.
  • Press Next.
  • Successful! Your Netphone is now personalized.

Will restoring factory settings deregister, deactivate or delete my account?
Restoring factory settings of the Netphone does not delete or deactivate your SmartNet or Netphone account. Your account is tied to the serial number of your Netphone and your mobile number. Thus if you restore your factory settings through the handset’s settings, you may sign in as Existing SmartNet User with your mobile number and password when you turn on your Netphone.

Where can I use my Netphone account?
You can use your mobile number and password to sign-in to SmartNet. SmartNet is SMART’s very own social networking website, where you can view your Facebook and Twitter feeds in a single view. To know more about SmartNet, see the SmartNet.ph section.

I already have a SmartNet.ph account. Can I use this to log in to Netphone?
Yes. To do this, press SmartNet Existing User and login using your SmartNet account email address and password. Once you are logged in, the mobile number of your Netphone will automatically be linked to your SmartNet account. In future logins to your Netphone, you may now use your mobile number and password to login.

When I turned on my Netphone, I am prompted to login. What do I do?
To login, use your Netphone mobile number and password.

I need to use my Netphone ASAP and it is asking me to register. What do I do?
For quick call and text, press the Guest Mode icon. Under Guest Mode, you will not be able to access SmartNet services. Your Netphone will just be a regular phone.

How do I delete my Netphone account?
Please contact customer care for assistance.
After turning ON my Netphone, I am redirected to the Homescreen with a message “Registration Failed.” What do I do?
Ensure that you have a strong 3G/Wi-Fi connection. Press Register and wait for the authentication to finish. Once successful, you will be redirected to the Homescreen.

Customizing your Netphone Profile

What is my Netphone profile for?
Your Netphone profile is your profile in the Social Stream and Global Directory.

Where can I customize my Netphone Profile?

  • Tap your profile picture from the Homescreen
  • Press the hard button MENU.
  • Press Edit Info
  • Feel free to add/edit your personal information such as your Work Info, School Info, Activities, Favorite Movies, Music and more.

Transferring your Contacts to your Netphone

How do I transfer my old contacts from my phone to my new Netphone?
To transfer your contacts from your Blackberry, iPhone, Android or Windows phone, ensure that your contacts in your old phone are synched to your Google account. To find out more about how to sync your Google contacts to your old phone, visit http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/ and choose your device to learn how to set up Google Sync.

Once you have synched your contacts to your Google account, you can now sync these to your Netphone.

  • Go to Phone’s Settings.
  • Go to Accounts and Sync
  • Press Add Account and select Google from the list.
  • Press Next.
  • Add your Google account that you used to sync your contacts from your old phone (Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Windows Phone)
  • Input your username and password and press Sign In. Once complete, press Finish.
  • You may go back to the Accounts, select your newly added Google account.
  • Check the Sync Contacts. Your phone will now start syncing your Google Contacts to your Netphone. You will see a Sync icon on the top notification bar. This will remain on the top bar until syncing has finished.

Safe Browsing Widget

What is the Safe Browsing Widget?
With the Safe Browsing Widget, you can use SmartNet services for FREE*.With Safe Browse enabled, you can access SmartNet services, Smart websites and other white-listed applications and not worry about unwanted data charges. With Safe Browse enabled, third party applications (i.e. push mail) will be blocked.

What happens if I turn off Safe Browsing?
By turning off the  Safe Browsing widget, Internet access is turned ON and you can now access all websites and applications. Standard data charges will apply.

Is Safe Browsing Widget the same with the handset’s Wireless and Networks settings?
No. To completely turn off the device’s internet access, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings. Press Wireless & Networks.
  • Uncheck the WiFi box
  • Scroll down and click on Mobile Networks.
  • Uncheck Data Enabled

1) The phones will come pre-loaded with Safe Browsing off. This means you can connect to the open internet. You can link your Twitter/Facebook accounts to your SmartNet account upon initial boot-up and this is the default setting for all Smartphones.  This will immediately consume Php 10 or the 1 peso per minute if below Php 10. *All SmartNet services will be free until Dec. 31, 2011.

2) If the SIM load has 0 credits, you will lose your data connection and will not be able to connect at all even on SmartNet. 

3) The Safe Browse widget will not be on the main Homescreen but on one of the panels when you swipe left.

4) If there is no data connection, the last Balance Inquiry amount displayed on the Smart Center widget will be the last time you refreshed that screen when it still had a data connection. The balance inquiry display on Smart Center is puuled by going back and forth the arrows “>” & “<” and is not a real time push balance.

Smart Center

What can I do with Smart Center?
Smart Center is a convenient and innovative way in managing your Smart Account. You can check your balance, view your subscriptions, subscribe to packages and view your Smart Money account.

How do I access Smart Center?
To access Smart Center, simply tap the right arrow near your status message. For prepaid users, you can see your load balance. For postpaid users, you can see your outstanding balance.

How do I access my Smart Subscriptions?
To access your Subscriptions, just click on the Smart Center icon. Please note that Subscriptions are only available for Prepaid Users.

How do I view my active Subscriptions?
To view your active subscriptions, simply press the Current Subscriptions tab. Only Netphone subscriptions are listed here.

What are the packages I can subscribe to in Smart Subscriptions?
Currently you can only subscribe to Netphone packages. To view the full details on the available Netphone packages, click here.

How do I subscribe to a package?

  • Press the Smart Center icon.
  • Tap Subscriptions tab.
  • Select a package from the list by pressing it.
  • Press Buy.
  • Click OK to confirm.
  • Your load balance will be deducted by package amount.

How do I view my current subscriptions?

  • Press the Smart Center icon.
  • Tap Active Subscriptions tab.
  • Your active subscriptions will be listed below.

Will I be notified if my subscription expires?
No. Just check the active subscriptions every now and then.

Can I avail another Netphone package if I have a current subscription?
No. You need to wait for your current subscription to expire before you can avail of another package.

How do I access my Smart Money account?

  • Press the Smart Center icon.
  • Tap Smart Money tab.
  • You can now access your Smart Money menu.

Global Directory

What is the Global Directory?
With the Netphone’s Global Directory, you can easily add other Netphone and SmartNet users as your friends like a social network. No more business cards, manually adding of contacts ---  just search and accept friend requests and you can now interact with them.

Who can I search in the Global Directory?
All Netphone and SmartNet.ph Users.

How can I search in the Global Directory?

  • Go to Phonebook app.
  • To search for people in the Global Directory, press the Global Directory icon and type the name on the Search bar.
  • If there are matches found, the search results will come out.

How do I add friends?

  • Go to Phonebook app.
  • Go to Contacts tab.
  • Press the Global Directory icon.
  • Type the first name of the person you want to add as a Friend. This searches the entire Global Directory for Netphone, SmartNet.ph & Netphone Messenger users
  • Select a person from the list you wish to add and press the Add button.
  • A friend request will be sent to the person.

What happens when I add a friend from the Global Directory? What details will be sent to the user?
Your friend will see your name, city, country, profile picture and mobile number as indicated in your profile.

How will I know if someone has sent me a friend request?
You will be notified if a person has added you as a friend through a notification on the top bar. To view the friend request, simply drag the notification bar and press the “You have a friend request” notification.

How do I accept Friend Requests?

  • Go to Social Stream app.
  • Go to the Notifications.
  • Check if the person has already accepted your friend request.

How will I know if a person has accepted my friend request?
You will be notified via the Social Stream application if someone has accepted your friend request through the notifications tab.

Can I also add friends through SmartNet.ph?
Yes. To add a friend in SmartNet.ph,

  • Go to http://www.smartnet.ph
  • Login using your mobile number and password.
  • Once logged in, on the search textbox on top of the page, type the name of the person you want to add as a Friend. This searches the entire Global Directory for Netphone, SmartNet.ph & Netphone Messenger users.
  • Select the contact from the list in the search results and press Add as Friend.

Where can I view all of my friends?
Go to Phonebook and press Friends tab to view your friends.

My friend has already accepted my request, how come he is not in my list of friends?
You will need to save his contact information locally in your Phonebook.

  • Go to Phonebook app.
  • Search for your friend’s name in the Global Directory.
  • Press the name of your friend.
  • The Application will now save your friend’s contact information to your Phonebook.

Where can I view all of my friend requests?

  • Go to Phonebook app.
  • Press the Requests tab. The Requests tab is where you receive friend requests from other Netphone users. A Badge indicates how many pending friend requests you have.
  • To accept friend requests, press Accept. Or to decline a request, press Ignore.
  • You may also press the Contact to view the request of the contact. Here you see the personal message, the mobile number of the user and the City & Country of the user.

What are the interactions I can do with my Netphone friends?
You can perform a number of actions such as: Call, Email, Text, Pasaload, Social Stream, Chat, and FX.

How can I send a Pasaload to my friend?

  • Go to Phonebook app.
  • Press a contact or friend.
  • Select the Pasaload icon.
  • Select a denomination.
  • Press Send.

Can I manually add a contact or import contacts from my SIM?
Yes. To manually add a contact,

  • To add contacts to your Phonebook, press hard key MENU button. You may manually add a contact to your Phonebook. Or Import contacts from your SIM card.
  • Select Add New Contact from the options menu.
  • Fill in the necessary fields and press Save. Your new contact should now be saved to your Phonebook.

Does the Netphone Phonebook support Google syncing?
Yes. To sync your Google contacts with your Netphone,

  • Go to Phone’s Settings.
  • Go to Accounts and Sync
  • Press Add Account and select Google from the list.
  • Press Next.
  • Add your Google account that you used to sync your contacts from your old phone (Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Windows Phone)
  • Input your username and password and press Sign In. Once complete, press Finish.
  • You may go back to the Accounts, select your newly added Google account.

Can I still view my Phonebook contacts and friends even if I turned off mobile internet?
Yes. However, you will not be able to search the Global Directory or add friends.

Smart Chat

What is the Smart Chat?
With Smart Chat, you can chat with your Netphone friends through Netphone Messenger for FREE. Also you can chat with your Yahoo and Facebook contacts once you’ve linked your account in the Chat application.

How do I chat with a Netphone Friend?

  • Go to Chat app.
  • Go to Contacts tab.
  • Press a contact from the list to chat with your contact.
  • Type your message and press Send.

When I press Chat application, I see the message “You do not have friends yet!” How can I start chatting with my friends?
You can add friends from the Global Directory and start chatting with them. See Global Directory section. You can also chat with your Yahoo and Facebook friends. Press the Yahoo and Facebook icons to link your account.

How do I link my Facebook and Yahoo account to my Chat?

  • Go to Chat app.
  • Press Accounts tab.
  • Press the Account drop down menu. Select which account to link, Facebook or Yahoo.
  • Input your Username and Password credentials and press Add Account.
  • Once you have added your account, you will need to Sign In by pressing the Sign In button.

How many Facebook and Yahoo accounts can I add?
You can only add 1 Facebook and 1 Yahoo account at a time. You can always choose to change your accounts anytime.

What is FX?
FX is a unique emotive messaging that you can send to your Netphone friends. Send a beer, kiss a friend and more!

Are FX’s free of charge?
Yes.

How do I send an FX?

  • You can also attach an FX to your chat message. Press the FX icon.
  • Select an FX from the gallery. Input a message.
  • To preview an FX, press the play button. FX will play on your screen press close to return to the previous screen.
  • Press Send. Your message will appear on the thread.

How will I know if I have received an FX or a chat message?
You will be alerted with the FX sounds or your default chat message notification tone.

Can I change my chat message notification tone?
Yes. To change,

  • Go to phone’s Settings.
  • Press sound.
  • Scroll down to notification ringtone and select from a wide variety of tones.
  • Press OK to confirm.

How do I reply to Chat conversation?

  • Go to Chat app.
  • Press Chats tab and select a conversation.
  • Type a message and press Send.

Where can I view my chat conversations?

  • Go to Chat app.
  • Press the Chats tab.
  • To view a chat, select a conversation from the list.

How do I delete my chat messages?
Yes. To delete,

  • Go to Chat app.
  • Press Chats tab.
  • Press MENU hard key and select Delete Chats.
  • Select Chats to delete and press Delete.

How do I clear the history of my chat conversations?

  • Go to Chat app.
  • Press Chats tab.
  • Select a conversation.
  • Press MENU hard key and select Clear History.

Social Stream

What is Social Stream?
Social Stream allows you to view your SmartNet, Facebook and Twitter feeds in a single view. No need to switch applications to keep you updated.

Can I view my Social Stream on web?
Yes. Visit www.smartnet.ph , login using your mobile number and password and sign in to view your SmartNet feeds. To know more about SmartNet.ph, see SmartNet.ph section.

How can I see my Facebook and Twitter feeds in Social Stream?
You need to link your Facebook and Twitter accounts first.

How do I link my Facebook and Twitter accounts?

  • Go to Social app.
  • Press Feeds tab.
  • From the Feeds view, press the Facebook icon.
  • Log in to your Facebook account.
  • Allow SmartNet to access your Facebook account by pressing the Allow button.
  • Linking successful!
  • Press the hard button “BACK” to go to the Feeds screen
  • Do the same for Twitter account by pressing the Twitter icon and follow the steps.

How do I share a status?

  • Go to Social app.
  • Go to Feeds tab
  • Press the “What do you want to say?” textbox and input your status.
  • To share to your Facebook and Twitter, tap on the Facebook and Twitter icons.

(If your Facebook and Twitter accounts are not yet linked, you will be prompted to sign in to your Facebook and Twitter accounts and allow SmartNet to access your Facebook and Twitter accounts)

  • Press Share! Status posted. Your feeds will be refreshed and you will now see your status on the top of the feed.

How do I choose where to share a post?
In the share box, you can choose to share to Facebook, Twitter or to both. However, all posts will be shared to SmartNet.

How do I refresh my feeds in Social Stream?
To stay updated, press hard button MENU and Select Refresh from the options.

How do I filter feeds coming from Facebook and Twitter?
In the Feeds tab, The “All” view allows you to see all your SmartNet, Facebook and Twitter feeds. To filter feeds from SmartNet, Facebook or Twitter, press the SmartNet icon, Facebook icon and Twitter icon respectively.

How do I view notifications?

  • Go to Social app.
  • At the bottom of the screen, you can see a Notification bar. Drag it upward to check your notifications. Notifications include Social activities (Comments, posts) from SmartNet & friend requests from Global Directory
  • Tap on a notification to view it.
  • After pressing the notification, you can now view the activities.

Can I receive notifications from Facebook posts or tweets? (i.e. Comments to a Post, Mentions or Direct Messages from Twitter)
No. However, if you posted via Social Stream and shared it to Facebook and Twitter, you will receive a notification if someone has commented on your post since it is shared to SmartNet.

How do I comment to a post?

  • To comment on a post, select a post from the feed.
  • Type your comment and press Post.
  • Your comment will appear on the bottom of the thread.

How can I view a friend’s wall and profile?

  • To view a friend, select a friend from the list.
  • You can view your Friend’s SmartNet Wall.
  • And also your Friend’s Information.

Is my profile in Social Stream the same profile in Phonebook?
Yes. You have one single profile for your Netphone, which is viewable in both Social Stream and Phonebook application.

Can I delete posts or comments?
This feature is currently not yet supported.

Can I receive friend requests from Facebook or follower requests from Twitter?
This feature is currently not yet supported.

Can I unlink my Facebook and Twitter accounts in Social Stream using my Netphone?
This feature is not yet supported in Netphone. However, you can unlink via SmartNet.ph. See SmartNet.ph section for more details.

Can I use the linked Facebook and Twitter accounts to add these to another SmartNet.ph account?
No. Once a Facebook and Twitter account is already linked to an account, it can no longer be linked to another account unless you unlink them first.

How to Unli Social?
Steps:
1.) Get a SmartNet (via Netphone 701, Samsung Galaxy Y, Download from Android Market Place)
2.) Register on SmartNet
    a.) Netphone 701: Follow boot up registration sequence
    b.) Other Android Devices: After downloading and Installing. Go to your homescreen and add the SmartNet Widget. Tap Register on the SmartNet Widget.
3.) Link your Facebook and Twitter Accounts*
    a.) To link you Facebook and Twitter account tap on the Facebook and Twitter icons on Social Stream
    b.) *Linking will require regular data charging (P10/30mins) and you Internet on/ off wiget must be on Internet On
    c.) Wifi Interent connection for linking is free.
4.) SmartNet Social Stream
    a.) Tap on the Social Icon
    b.) Press "menu" to refresh your Social Feeds
5.) Comment. Post and Enjoy Free UnliSocial

Smart Inbox

What is the Smart Inbox?
The Smart Inbox is SMART’s avenue to update you with the latest promos, announcements, service offerings, network advisories and advertisements. Check your Smart Inbox often to get updated with the latest news.

How do I check my Smart Inbox for the latest news?

  • Go to Homescreen
  • Press the Smart Inbox icon.
  • You can now view the latest announcements from SMART and other advertisements.

UPDATING YOUR NETPHONE

Can I update my Netphone’s firmware on my own? Where do I get the update?
You can update your Netphone via the Updates App located in the applications menu.

How do I update my Netphone’s firmware?
SMART will push firmware and software updates the moment they are available. Just click the link on the update emails to install them. You may also go to Updates App located on the application menu of your Netphone. Your Netphone may restart while it is updating. This is normal.

Can I update my Netphone apps?
Yes. SMART will push firmware and software updates the moment they are available. Just click the link on the update emails to install them. You may also go to Updates App located on the application menu of your Netphone.

How can I update my Netphone’s apps?
Yes. SMART will push firmware and software updates the moment they are available. Just click the link on the update emails to install them. You may also go to Updates App located on the application menu of your Netphone.
Will I be notified of the latest Netphone updates?
Yes. You will be notified via Smart Inbox and/or via SMS.

Can I do anything while my Netphone is updating?
If an update is major and critical, you will not be able to use your Netphone until the update is finished.

How will I know if an update is critical or minor?
You will be prompted about the update’s importance. It is highly recommended for you to update your Netphone if it is a major update.

Will my Netphone support future releases of Android OS?
The Netphone does not support future Android OS releases.

SMARTNET.PH

What is SmartNet.ph?
SmartNet website is an online platform giving users access to communicate with friends not only within the SmartNet network but also to other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. It allows you to communicate to a broader network of friends!

Who can join SmartNet.ph?
Everyone! You, your family, your friends and anyone can join the SmartNet network for FREE!

How do I register on SmartNet.ph?

  • Click on the Join Tab
  • Enter a valid email in the space provided
  • Click on the Submit button
  • Once you submit, an email invitation is sent to the email submitted
  • Once you receive the email, you can click on the link to complete the registration
  • Once you complete the registration, you can start signing in once you get the confirmation email that your account was created.

Can I use my Netphone account to login to SmartNet.ph?
Yes. With only one account, you can login to SmartNet.ph and your Netphone.

How do I sign-in to SmartNet.ph?

  • Visit SmartNet.ph.
  • Enter your account/password in the space provided (Account = Email/verified Mobile Number)
  • If you successfully sign-in, you will be brought to the SmartNet Homepage

How do I sign-in via Facebook, Twitter or Google?

  • Before signing-in via your SNS account, you must first link it to your SmartNet account.
  • Click on the Facebook, Twitter or Google Icons on the Sign in Page
  • You will be asked to sign in with your existing username and passwords. 
  • After entering the information, you will be brought back to the SmartNet Home Page

How do I link/unlink my Facebook and Twitter accounts?
To link/unlink your Social Network Accounts, simply click on the Settings icon and choose Account.  By default, Accounts tab is selected.
You will then be directed to the Accounts Page.  In this Page, you will see a Social Network Accounts Section where you can start linking your Twitter and Facebook Accounts.  Just click on the LINK button and you will be directed to enter your respective username and passwords for that account.  You can also choose to UNLINK your accounts from here.  By linking your accounts, you receive your Facebook and Twitter feeds on your feed wall. By unlinking your accounts, your Facebook and Twitter feeds will be removed from your SmartNet profile.

Aside from linking my Facebook and Twitter accounts, what can I do?
Once you’ve linked your accounts, you can also retrieve your Facebook and Twitter contacts to your SmartNet Address Book.  Another way to do it is by clicking the Import Contacts button.  From there, you can choose which accounts you want to import contacts from.

How do I share my status?
At the home page, simply enter your update on the space provided. Once you finish, simply click on the Share button to update your status. You may also choose to share your status to your linked accounts by clicking on the Facebook or Twitter icons
You may also choose to include a link or a photo to your update. You may simply click on the Add link/Add photo Icon.

How do I filter feeds?
At the home page, just click on the Filter you wish to apply (SmartNet, Facebook or Twitter). Once you choose, then the News Feed will only display the feeds coming from the filter you chose.

How do I comment on a post?
At the home page, just click on the comment link under each post to start posting your comment. Once finished, just click on Submit to enter your comment. You can also add comments from the Single Post View or from posts on Wall Pages.
Note: Comments will always be placed where the post was cross-posted (assuming that you have linked your SNS accounts)

How do I delete my comments on a post?
To delete comments on posts, just hover over your comment and click on the “x” to delete your comment. Comments can also be deleted from walls

Can I delete comments of other people on my posts?
No. This feature is not yet supported.

How do I view a single post and view all comments under it?
Just click on a post to view all.

How do I view notifications?

  • At the home page, just click on Time Stamp or click on the See More Comments (if available) to get into the single post view.
  • Once you click on it, then you should be brought to the single post view.

How do I view my wall?
Simply click the ME icon to view your wall.

How do I view my profile information?
To see your profile info, you have to be in your Wall. From your wall, you can simply click on the Info link on the left-side navigation to view your profile.

How do I view my contacts/friends/address book?
To view your contacts/friends list/address book, you can simply click on the Address Book icon

How do I view my Account Settings?
To see your Account settings, just click on the Account Icon.

How do I add friends via SmartNet.ph?

  • Go to http://www.smartnet.ph
  • Login using your mobile number and password.
  • Once logged in, on the search textbox on top of the page, type the name of the person you want to add as a Friend. This searches the entire Global Directory for Netphone, SmartNet.ph & Netphone Messenger users.
  • Select the contact from the list in the search results and press Add as Friend.

Troubleshooting

I am having problems accessing the site. What can I do?

  • Check if you can access other sites like Google or Yahoo!  If yes, go to #3.  If no, go to #2. 
  • Check your internet connection.  You may want to contact your internet service provider.
  • Try clearing your browser data. Then try accessing the SmartNet page again.
  • If you still can’t access the SmartNet page, send a report through the site’s feedback page and enter the following information:
  • Operating System used
  • Internet browser used
  • Login account used (Email address, mobile number or 3rd party accounts)
  • Date and Time accessed
  • Page being accessed
  • Error Message

I am having problems in using my email during registration. What can I do?

  • Double check if the email you are using does not have a corresponding SmartNet account yet.
  • If none, report this issue through the feedback page and enter the following information:
  • Email address
  • Internet browser used

I did not receive any email verification from SmartNet. What can I do?

  • Check your email’s spam/junk folder, as a lot of verification emails are sent to this folder.
  • Recall if the email address you entered is correct. 
  • Reenter your email address and submit the send verification link
  • If email address is already correct and there is still no email received, report this issue through the feedback page and enter the following information:
  • Email address
  • Internet browser
  • Date and Time user submitted the email

You can download and purchase apps from the Google Android Market Place installed in the phone. Internet Access is required to access and install applications. Your Safe Browsing Widget must be turned Off.

Can the Netphone connect to a WiFi hotspot?
Yes it can. Just follow these steps to activate your WiFi.
• Go to Settings
• Click on Wireless & networks
• Click the check box for Wifi, or click the WiFi widget 
To select access point for WiFi:
• Go to Wireless & Network settings 
• Click on WiFi Settings 
• Click on selected access point under WiFi Networks
• Enter Password or WEP key if required

How do I setup my Gmail account?

  • Go to Gmail app
  • Press MENU hard key and select Accounts from the options menu.
  • Press Add Account.
  • Follow the steps on how to add another Google account to your Netphone.

Other Concerns

How do I charge my Netphone?

  • Connect the Battery the adapter to the charger jack.
  • Connect the charger to a standard AC wall outlet.
  • Disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged.

How long does the Netphone charge?
Initial charging time is 10 hrs. Standby charging time is 2 hrs. Standby time is 2 days.

How do I make a call?
To Call using Dialer,

  • Go to Homescreen and press the Phone button on the bottom of the screen.
  • You may scroll the contacts list on the upper half of the screen and selecting a contact to call or dial the number you want to call.
  • Press Call.

How do I send an SMS?
To send an SMS,

  • Go to the Messages app
  • Press New Message
  • Tap the To: field and type the name of your contact. Results will come out as you type. You may also press the Contacts icon and select more than one contact to send the SMS to.
  • Type your message.
  • You may also attach media by pressing MENU hard key and selecting Attach option. Select media to attach.
  • Press Send. If sent successfully, your message will now be in the conversation thread.

Does the Netphone support multitasking?
Yes. By holding the home hard button, you can switch from one active app to another.

Is my Netphone compatible with UZZAP?
Netphone users will have the latest version of UZZAP installed in their handsets.

I cannot send Chat or update my status in my Netphone. What can I do?
Check if you have sufficient balance (minimum P1 load balance) or if you are connected via mobile internet or Wi-Fi.

I cannot browse the Internet or use my third party applications (i.e. downloaded, push email, online games). What can I do?
Ensure that your Mobile Internet or Wi-Fi is enabled. Also, to be able to browse the Internet completely and use third party applications, turn off Safe Browsing Widget. Standard data charges will apply. See Safe Browsing section for how-to.

NETWORK

Is the Netphone compatible to all SMART networks? Will I be able to use its services on a Globe or Sun SIM?
The latest release of the Netphone can only work with SMART networks. It will not work on Red, PLDT, Globe, or Sun SIM cards.

What SIM cards are compatible to the Netphone? Do I need to upgrade my SIM?
Users may use any SMART SIM card (Buddy, Gold, Infinity or Talk ‘N Text). No SIM upgrade is required.

Will the Netphone support 3G or LTE Networks?
The Netphone supports 3.5G, 3G and 2G networks, including Edge and GPRS.

Will the Netphone work while roaming?  If my data roaming is active, will data-enabled features work as well?
If you are a postpaid subscriber, data roaming is enabled automatically and Netphone applications will work, and data charges will be incurred. If you are a prepaid subscriber, you may go to your nearest SMART Wireless Center or SMART Store to deposit P1000 to enable data roaming. Otherwise, data roaming will not be permitted.

How long is the replacement and repair warranty for my Netphone?
30 days is the replacement, but the repair warranty is 1 year.
