Metered Charging FAQs:

Starting December 6, 2009, SMART Buddy and Talk 'N Text subscribers can avail of a new call charging options for voice calls, the six second per pulse charging.
 

1. What is per pulse charging scheme? How is this different from the charging scheme of regular calls?

 

Per pulse charging scheme is a call charging scheme that sets the maximum unit

of billing to six seconds per pulse. Instead of being charged on a per minute

basis, subscribers who choose the per pulse charging scheme will be charged

for every six seconds that they use.

3. What are the benefits of the per pulse charging scheme?

 

With the per-pulse billing, subscribers will enjoy lower rates.


4. Will per pulse charging replace the per minute calling scheme?

 

No. Per pulse charging scheme will be offered as an option to subscribers by

dialing with a prefix before the number being called (*5434). The regular per minute

charging will still be offered as the default call charging scheme.


5. Who can avail of the per pulse charging scheme?

 

All Smart Buddy subscribers can avail of the per pulse charging scheme.


6. How can I avail of the per pulse charging scheme?

 

Per pulse charging scheme can be availed via prefix dialing. To call, simply

dial asterisk, followed by the prefix number 5434, then the MIN. For example:

*5434 09189117700


7. How will I be charged if I use the per pulse charging scheme of calling?

 

Your call will be deducted from your airtime load. A minimum balance of P3.00 (flag down of 12 seconds) will be required for your call to push through.


8. Does the per pulse charging scheme apply to both On-net and Off-net calls?

 

The per pulse charging scheme for voice calls is applicable to Smart to Smart and

Talk 'N Text. For any changes, information will be released to the public once available. 

 

9. Can I apply this while roaming?

 

No. If subscriber is on roaming, he will be charged the applicable roaming fees.  

 

10. Does this apply to video call rates?

 

Yes, the same rates apply to video calls as well.  

11. Can I use the per pulse charging scheme while enrolled to unlimited promos?

 

If the subscriber is enrolled in an unlimited voice promo, his metered calls will not

be considered part of the unlimited offer, as such he will be billed for the metered

calls he will make.
