[December 22, 2010/ Manila] - PLDT group Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan recently turned over a P1 million check to the Philippine national football team Azkals during a courtesy visit of the team at the Smart Communications head office in Makati City.
Leading the team in receiving the check from MVP were national coach Simon Mcmenemy, team manager Dan Palami and team captain Aly Borromeo.
Also present were newly recognized Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta, Smart Wireless Consumer Division head Danilo J. Mojica and Smart Sports head Patrick Gregorio.
The team presented to MVP a football signed by the Azkals as a token of appreciation for the Smart-PLDT Chairman’s support for the group. The Azkals made headlines when the team reached the semis of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 for the first time after defeating Vietnam.
