Smart receives 2010 Wind Vane Award from PAGASA-DOST
[December 22, 2010/ Manila] - Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) was one of six recipients of the Wind Vane Award given by the country’s weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The country’s leading wireless services provider was the only telco recognized for its contribution and support to the disaster-risk management projects of the agency via collaborative projects that include Project Rain Gauge, a weather monitoring and disaster alert system for Davao City and the co-location of automated weather stations in Smart cell sites.

The other Wind Vane Award recipients include the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office, former Sorsogon Gov. Sally Lee, San Miguel Corp. Board Member Mario Garcia, former PAGASA Deputy Director Juanito Lirios, and Dennis Villorente from the Advanced Science and Technology Institute.
