SMART Supports Wireless Access for Health
[June 24, 2010/ Manila] - SMART Chief Wireless Advisor Orlando Vea (second from right) reiterates the commitment of the company to support the implementation of the Wireless Access for Health program beyond the pilot phase of four municipal health centers in Tarlac.
“It is in the DNA of SMART to explore new frontiers, new ways of bringing new services that will benefit the masses. We’ve done it with the cell phone and we’re now doing it as part of our ‘Internet for All’ advocacy with projects like the Wireless Access for Health,” he said.
Vea joined the other stakeholders in the recent launch of the Wireless Access for Health, a program that combines an electronic medical record system with Qualcomm’s 3G technology over Smart Communications, Inc.’s (SMART) network to allow clinicians and decision-makers improved and faster access to accurate and relevant patient information.
With Vea are (from left to right) University of the Philippines Manila-National Telehealth Center Director Dr. Alvin Marcelo, Tarlac Provincial Health Office Head Dr. Ricardo Ramos, Tarlac Governor Victor Yap, Qualcomm Southeast Asia President John Stefanac and RTI International Technical Advisor Mike McKay.
