CNDR, Smart help build ‘Noah’s Ark’ in Bacolod. The Corporate Network for Disaster Response (CNDR) has partnered with leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and the city government to bring Noah’s Ark Project to Bacolod City. Noah’s Ark Project is CNDR’s community preparedness program that aims to increase the capacities of local government units and high-risk communities to cope with the hazards of flooding. Under the agreement which was signed recently in the city’s New Government Center, CNDR through the funding from Smart will train local government officials and volunteers on setting up systems and procedures on community flood early warning system, communication protocols and evacuation procedures. The series of assessments, talks and workshops will culminate in an actual community flood drill. Noah’s Ark Project was recently implemented in Marikina City and soon will be brought to other high-risk communities in Muntinlupa City, San Mateo in Rizal, Cagayan De Oro and Iligan. Smart is an active member of the CNDR - a network of business groups, associations, corporations and corporate foundations whose objective is to rationalize and institutionalize disaster risk management efforts of the business community.
