SMART POSTPAID Surf Abroad 550 FAQs

What is SMART POSTPAID SURF ABROAD?

SMART POSTPAID SURF ABROAD is a Php550/day data roaming service open to SMART Postpaid, Infinity, and Corporate subscribers, covering 130 countries within US, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania.

Who can avail this service?

SMART Postpaid, Infinity, and SMART Postpaid Corporate subscribers whose credit limit at the time of attempt to subscribe, can accommodate the registration fee.

What is new about the service?
  • Availment: No more manual selection of partner operator. To avail, simply turn on data roaming
  • Coverage: Has been expanded to 4 new countries as of January 28, 2016
  • Anti-bill shock feature: To avoid incurring regular data roaming charges of at least Php300/MB, data roaming on non-Surf Abroad 550 partner operators is not allowed.
How do I avail this new no-registration Surf Abroad?

Simply turn on data roaming and start surfing!

Customer experience is

  1. Hassle-free: on top of not having the need to register and remember when subscription starts and ends, retail subscribers do not have to manually select roaming network since Smart automatically steers subscriber to partner networks
  2. No bill shock:
    • For retail (Postpaid and Infinity): new network lock feature does not allow roaming usage on non-partner roaming networks. Thus, no unwanted data charges! You only get charged Php550/day
    • For corporate: for these less cost conscious subscribers whose main concern is to stay connected all the time, Smart offers the flexibility to perform data roaming using non-partner networks charged at regular rates. Rest assured though that subscribers are duly notified via SMS every time they do so

Are all mobile operators in above-mentioned countries covered by Surf Abroad?

No, only indicated partner operators are covered. See roaming partners’ matrix for reference on list of Smart’s partner operators.
