What is Smart Money?

SMART MONEY is a re-loadable payment card that may either be accessed through a Smart mobile phone or a MasterCard powered card, similar to a debit/cash card. Smart Money enables Smart subscribers to manage their money from their mobile phones wherever they are, whenever they want.

What are Smart Money’s features?

Smart Money enables the following:
a. Transferring money to another Smart Money Account.
b. Purchase transactions at MasterCard establishments or any Smart Money accredited merchants.
c. Reload a Buddy or Talk and Text account using your mobile phone. 
d. Bills Payment - Smart Gold, Smart Bro, Maynilad, PLDT, Sky Cable, ZpDee. 
e. Free text notification for every transaction.
f. Transfer of money from your bank account to a Smart Money account via mobile banking. 
g. ATM withdrawal at BDO, BancNet, ExpressNet, Megalink and Cirrus ATMs.

What other benefits do I enjoy through Smart Money?

How do I download a Smart Money Account?

Option 1:
1)   Text MONEY to 343
2)   Enter desired W-PIN (6-digits).
3)   Re-enter W-PIN, press OK.
4)   Choose ‘Get Account’ press OK
5)    Select BDO
6)   Wait for your confirmation message.
Option 2:
1)   Go to the SMART MENU and select SMART MONEY
2)   Choose any transaction.
3)   Follow steps 2 to 6 above.

How do I get a Smart Money Card?

Step 1: Activate your Smart Money account via your Smart mobile phone (refer to item no. 4)

Step 2: Once you have successfully activated your “Smart Money Account”, go to any SMART Wireless Center and submit the following:
a. A completely filled out SMART Money Application Form
b. A photocopy of your Valid ID*
c. Php 30 processing fee

*Present a photocopy of any valid ID:
- For Minors: Photo bearing School ID signed by the Principal or School Head
- Passport
- Driver’s License
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ID
- NBI Clearance
- Police Clearance
- Postal ID
- Voter’s ID
- Barangay Certification
- Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) e-Card
- SSS Card
- Senior Citizen Card

Step 3: Your Smart Money card will be delivered to your specified address after three (3) days within Metro Manila, seven (7) if provincial. For applications received online, a Smart representative will call the applicant for verification and ask his/her preferred wireless center location for card pick up.

What are the qualifications for getting Smart Money Card?

Qualifications to become a Smart Money Cardholder:
- Must be a Smart Subscriber
- Age: 12 years– above
- Citizenship – Filipino & Non-Filipino
- Residency – Must be a resident of the Philippines
- Must submit all required documents:
1. Smart Money Application Form
2. One valid ID*
* any valid unexpired picture identification in FAQ#5.

Is there an annual fee for Smart Money?

No. Smart Money Card is FREE.

The accountholder has the prerogative to enroll his/her card under our LOYALTY program for additional perks/privileges. An annual fee of P200 will be charged to the account holder.

Can I have several Smart Money cards linked to my phone?

Only a maximum of two (2) Smart Money MasterCards/Accounts may be linked to your Smart mobile phone.

How do I reload or deposit money in my Smart Money wallet?

You have four options on how to reload your Smart Money Account:
a. Over the Counter (OTC) via Smart Wireless Center, Banco De Oro (BDO)* branches nationwide, Smart Money Accredited Outlets
b. Wallet-to-wallet transfer - money transfer from other Smart Money Accounts
c. Mobile Banking Service (MBS) – from your bank account enrolled under your bank's mobile banking program to your Smart Money Account
d. Credit Card via PLDTOnline.com  - use your credit card to load your Smart Money Account. Visit www.pldtonline.com for details.

*Loading of Smart Money at BDO branches for account numbers beginning with 5299 67 will be available starting July 16,2008.

What is MBS or mobile banking?

MBS stands for Mobile Banking Service. This is a service that allows you to access and manage your bank account/s from your mobile phone. Mobile banking allows you to perform balance inquiries and transfer money to a Smart Money account.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SMART’S MOBILE BANKING SERVICE?

To apply, go to you bank branch and fill out a Mobile Banking application form.  Following your bank Mobile Banking procedure, you will receive an M-PIN via SMS from your bank.  Upon receipt of your M-PIN, you can already activate your Mobile Banking menu.  Just follow these simple steps:

A. For DIRECT CONNECT BANKS

Step 1: Go to Smart Menu and select Mobile Banking
Step 2: Select Activate Bank and press OK
Step 3: Select m-PIN to activate your bank, press OK
Step 4: Enter bank code (enter assigned code)
Step 5: A prompt message will ask you if you will Enroll the bank code you have entered, press  OK
Step 6: Enter m-PIN provided by the bank, press OK
Step 7: You will receive an SMS confirming your registration
Step 8: To check if your menu has been updated, you may go to Smart Menu, Mobile Banking  menu, and then the name of the bank you have activated will appear in the menu.

B. FOR NETWORK BANKS (BANCNET AND MEGALINK BANKS)
For banks outside the list of direct connect banks and are member of either BancNet or MegaLink networks, you can activate your SMART Mobile Banking Service through these steps:

Step 1: Go to SMART MENU and select MOBILE BANKING
Step 2: Select Activate Bank and press OK
Step 3: Select ATM-PIN to activate your bank and then press OK
Step 4: Enter the bank code (refer to list of bank codes connected via BancNet)
Step 5: Enter your ATM card number and press OK
Step 6: Confirm activation by pressing OK
Step 7: Enter your ATM-PIN.  (This is the personal ATM PIN defined when the card was    acquired.) Press OK
Step 8: A text message will be received confirming the activation.
Step 9: The name of the bank will be displayed in Mobile Banking sub menu for easy access.
Step 10: Call the specific branch of the bank where the account was opened to inform that Mobile    Banking was activated.  This will start processing of service request.
Step 11: Mobile Banking should be activated within one day.

How can I transfer money from my Smart Money wallet to another Smart Money wallet?

a. Go to your SMART MENU select SMART Money.
b. Select Transfer, press OK.
c. Choose Others, then press OK.
d. Enter the account number of the recipient, then press OK.
e. Once ‘Transfer from’ is shown on screen, press OK.
f. Select from your list of card names, then press OK.
g. Key in the amount to be transferred, then press OK.
(Maximum transfer amount : Php10,000)
h. You will receive a confirmation request of your transaction, press OK.
i. Enter your PIN, press OK.
j. You will receive a text message of the amount transferred and your new account balance.

How much does a wallet to wallet transfer cost?

You will be charged Php 2.50 per transaction and will be deducted from your prepaid airtime balance or charged to your postpaid bill.

How can I get the cash that is stored in my Smart Money account?

You have two options in accessing the cash residing in your Smart Money account:
a. Over-the-counter (OTC) encashment via any Smart Wireless Center or any Smart accredited Encashment Center.
b. ATM Withdrawal at any BDO, Expressnet, Bancnet and MegaLink ATMs nationwide or Cirrus ATMs overseas.

How much will I be charged for ATM withdrawals?

You will be the following ATM withdrawal fee:
BDO ATMs - FREE
Other banks - Php 11.00 per transaction
Overseas ATM (Cirrus) = Php 150.00 per transaction

What is the daily maximum withdrawable amount using my Smart Money?

The maximum withdrawable amount per day is Php 20,000.

What is the allowable maximum money transfer amount per day?

The maximum amount of money you may transfer per day is Php 10,000.

How can I be sure that Smart Money is secure?

Smart Money is SAFER and a MORE SECURE payment tool and way of transferring money. Your money is stored in the banking system of BDO and all transactions are PIN protected. You don’t lose all your cash even if you lose your phone or your Smart Money card! All you have to do is call our hotline to report your phone/card loss and we will help you protect your money and issue a new Smart Money card.

Can I use my Smart Money card in all MasterCard establishments?

Yes, Smart Money card is legally accredited by MasterCard Electronic and MasterCard Worldwide. You can use your card here in the Philippines and abroad. Your Smart Money card is accepted in approximately 25-million establishments worldwide!

Can I buy Smart airtime load for myself as well as for my family and friends through Smart Money?

Yes. You can buy and send Smart and Talk 'N Text prepaid load for yourself, your friends and your family using your Smart Money account. You have the option of buying P50, P100, P300, P500, and P1000 load denominations. Just go to the Smart Menu and choose the ‘Reload Buddy’ option.
